South by Southwest® (SXSW®) Conference and Festivals has launched its 2023 season with the opening of PanelPicker® proposals and Music Festival Showcasing Artist applications for next year’s event. SXSW Film Festival submissions will open on August 23.
SXSW will accept proposals through PanelPicker, an online tool that gives the SXSW
community a significant voice in programming conference sessions through an open proposal
and voting process, beginning today, Tuesday, June 28, and closing July 24, 2022. The SXSW
community will be able to browse proposals, leave comments and vote to help shape the event
during Community Voting from August 9-21, 2022.
Also launching today is the SXSW’s Iconic Moments video platform. SXSW is opening the
video vault to showcase exclusive content spanning the history of the event featuring creative
visionaries from the worlds of tech, film, music and beyond.
The SXSW Conference features 22 programming tracks featuring sessions that focus on
specific elements within the overall theme of the track. Tracks for 2023 include: 2050,
Advertising & Brand Experience, Civic Engagement, Climate Change, Culture, Design, Energy,
Film & TV Industry, Food, Future of Music, Future of Work, Games and Entertainment, Health &
MedTech, Making Film & Episodics, Media Industry, Psychedelics, Sports, Startups, Tech
Industry, Transportation, and XR.
The SXSW Music Festival is now accepting Showcasing Artist applications for 2023. The
festival brings together artists, industry professionals, influencers and music lovers from around
the world to make connections, elevate their careers and celebrate the magic of live music with
showcases from legendary performers and the most exciting new talent. The application period
closes on Friday, October 7, 2022. Apply early for a discounted rate.
The SXSW Film Festival will begin accepting Feature Film, Short Film, Episodic, Music Video
and XR project submissions August 23, 2022 through October 18, 2022. The Texas High
School Short category will accept submissions through December 13, 2022.
In addition to PanelPicker proposals for the SXSW Conference and applications for the Music
Festival, SXSW is now accepting entries for the visual arts for The Art Program, and the most
inventive startups for SXSW Pitch.
The 2022 SXSW Conference featured more than 1,600 sessions, with speakers including Alexis
